Oh, I nearly forgot. In the last hotel you could tune into the "phone channel" (channel 27) on the TV - which basically gave you a picture of the hotel lobby, pointing towards the lobby phone. I think it was a security measure so that if anyone phoned up to your room you could check out who they were before agreeing that they could come up.

The way my brain works, this was an opportunity too good to miss. So I went downstairs, called one of my colleagues on the lobby phone and got them to turn to channel 27, then waved at the camera so that they could see me waving on their tv. Stupid I know, but it amused me. Sort of like a one-way videophone.

Those long winter evenings are just flying by.....
