~ Istanbul was Constantinople... ~
Chris is in Turkey this week; Istanbul to be exact. I don't think he cares for it too much. Yesterday when we made plans for a phone call later in the day, he told me to speak in an English accent when I asked for his room. I thought he was joking. He wasn't. See, I took a semester of Acting for Shakespeare when I was in college and we had to learn a standard English accent. Since it's textbook, mine sounds very proper but Chris thinks it's pretty good.
So when I called later, I spoke in my best "royal" accent and surprisingly the Turkish guy at the front desk put me right through. Apparently they understand English better with an English accent as opposed to an American accent. Who'd have thunk it?
