Chris and I would be what you might call "jet setters", although we aren't wealthy people traveling from one fashionable place to another(the proper definition according to dictionary.com). We are international though. In fact, our life is VERY international. Our visits always begin and end in airports and we are in airports A LOT. We probably see each other more than most transatlantic couples do, although I can't say I know any. It's a priority so we make it work. People ask me all the time how I handle it so well. I give them two answers. I wake up everyday knowing that Chris is exactly the man that God has always intended for me. That basic truth helps me know that he and I can handle this distance with God's help. And He does help! My second response is an extension of the first. Chris and I have such a stable, loving relationship that even though being apart stinks, we have found ways of handling it. It's not ideal, but we are both healthy, functioning adults so we just get on with life. We are both a part of each other's daily activities, and even if that happens over the phone, it's better than nothing. Admittedly, I wouldn't trade Chris for another guy that I could see everyday because that guy wouldn't be him and he is all I want. So I handle it well because I have to. I can't live my life being miserable because he is not always in the same city I am, or country for that matter. My life is happy and so is his. Even though we miss each other terribly, it doesn't do us any good to be stressed about it. Prayer for the other is a daily activity for us and I know that helps us more than anything.
Today Chris and I got to come to the airport together. We had such a nice weekend in Ann Arbor where the KS were doing a concert. The rest of the guys flew out yesterday, but Chris and I stayed an extra day so we could have more time together. These Michigan people really love the KS; the concert sold over 2,000 tickets. I helped with CD sales which was a real blast. Ann Arbor is a nice town. We really loved the atmosphere of small delicatessens, coffee shops, and vintage clothing stores. We were picked up today by a limo service at 3:15 and came to the airport. Unlike most of our partings, I got to come through security with Chris since we both had flights. The advantage of traveling with Chris is that he has memberships to all these nice lounges in airports. I am sitting in the Northwest lounge right now using wireless internet with full access to free food and drink. THIS, my friends, is the way to travel. He left almost two hours ago. Their 3 week US tour is now over so he gets to finally go home. My flight time was changed so I have another hour and half to kill. Thank goodness for this lounge!! We won't get to see each other again for 6 weeks which is the longest we have been apart since we started dating. He is traveling quite a lot during that time (UK, Italy, Korea, and Japan) so it will go by quickly for him. For me, I am not quite that busy ( I am staying in one country), but school definitely takes up most of my time. It will pass and Christmas will be here. Then back to the airport I go...
